Re: MORE -- Re: New system distro advise, please!

thanks Steve,

I looked at their systems and they are sort of expensive for a system that supports more than 4GB of RAM and their cost for a 2GB stick is about $100 more than what I would expect. Maybe it is old pricing?

So if you could pick a good vendor, would it be?

Penguin Computing

Red Barn Computers

SUN Microsystems

a local vendor (who is the cheapest for the system...actually)

I'll call red bard and get an actual live quote verses using the website.

Does anyone have thoughts on buying a Penquin or maybe can recommend another vendor that sells Linux Friendly systems capable of at least 8GB of RAM? I used to own a Tadpole Notebook, but that maxed out at 2GB.

There's Red Barn Technology Group down in Bingo. They do custom systems of all sorts and will pre-install Linux. They;re at 800-796-8809 or www.redbarncomputers.com.
